چکیده

Background In patients with acute ischemic stroke, minimizing the time to revascularization can minimize neuronal death. First‐pass effect (FPE), defined as successful or complete of an occluded target vessel 1 pass a mechanical thrombectomy device(s), reduces revascularization. The objective this study was determine FPE rate, compare cases in which versus not achieved, and predictors good functional outcome at 90 days, large‐vessel occlusion stroke treated Penumbra System (Penumbra, Inc). Methods This is subset analysis COMPLETE (International Acute Ischemic Stroke Registry With Aspiration Including 3D [3‐Dimensional] Revascularization Device) registry, global, prospective, multicenter, observational registry. rates were calculated. Subgroups who achieved did achieve compared. Variables independently associated days determined. Endovascular aspiration thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke therapy: the Penumbra system

Approximately half of acute ischemic stroke patients end up with a disability that interferes with independent living, despite treatment with intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (iv. tPA). One of the strongest explanations is the low rates of full and sustained recanalization at the arterial occlusion site with iv. tPA alone. This prompted the search for adjunctive therapies to achieve rec...
